It’s about community; in many respects that’s it, but of course it’s complicated.
You will see at various places on this website and in everything we do that our mission: “Compassionate care on the journey towards the End of Life”, set out and explained as it was in a recent article in our newsletter; Trinity: an organisation with a mission - Compassionate Care on the Journey towards the End of Life.
We also set out our underpinning philosophy: Light and Help and Human Kindness and as a ‘values led organisation’ we set out the values that drive all we do, the Trinity Ten:
- To put patients’ needs first and focus on the person not their illness;
- To care for, and support, the carers and families;
- To deliver the most effective specialist (but not elitist) palliative care that we can;
- To be a learning organisation and to learn with others who are providing generic palliative care;
- To respect and value the contribution of all Trinity staff and volunteers;
- To use creativity and innovation to continually improve our care;
- To serve the local community of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre in the best ways we can in the provision of palliative care;
- To behave ethically;
- To collaborate with partners and other organisations to benefit patients, their carers and families;
- To value the dignity and lives of all.
We are proud to have community at the core of what we do. The Trinity staff and volunteers (720 volunteers in 2009) are proud to serve the community of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre. Trinity and its family of services strive to live the Trinity values and we are dependent of the support and funding people in the community give in order for Trinity to continue.
We provide End of Life Care (Palliative Care) that helps people to live as actively as possible after diagnosis to the end of their lives, however long that may be.
All care is given free of charge to the patient, carer and their family. It can be at home, in the hospice and in the community. It can be for days, months or years. We provide the very best care we can for everyone facing the end of life.
